COMMUNITY

Working with our Community, Protecting the Environment.

The Banff Christmas Market is a small, locally owned business that believes in working with and working for our community. We employ local, showcase local, and give back to local charities and non-profits wherever possible. While the majority of our visitors come from the local Banff area, we are proud to host hundreds of visitors from the Canmore and Calgary area every year as well.

What can you do as a visitor?

Protecting & preserving the environment is everyone’s responsibility! You can reduce your environmental footprint at the market with just a few simple actions:

  • Live locally? Walk to the market (via the new pedestrian bridge!) or take public transit.

  • Not from Banff? Carpool with friends & family - ‘tis the season to spend more time with those we love!

  • Bring your own travel mug so you can enjoy a hot drink while shopping.

  • Lots of shopping planned? Bring a reusable shopping bag!

Environment: Operating in a National Park

We have the great privilege of operating in a national park and with that comes great responsibility. Each year the Banff Christmas Market sets new goals for sustainable operations to ensure we are minimizing our environmental footprint and protecting our park.

The Banff Christmas Market is taking several steps of our own to work alongside the Town of Banff towards the 2050 goal of Zero Waste. Such actions include:

  • Providing reusable shopping bags to guests

  • No longer providing plastic water bottles to vendors.

  • Switching to compostable cups & products.

  • Create & build décor from repurposed & up-cycled products.

The Banff Christmas Market encourages vendors to work towards reducing
waste at the market by taking the following steps:

  • Use compostable or biodegradable sample products

  • Opt for reusable or paper bags in place of plastic shopping bags

Volunteers

Do you love the holidays and want to be a part of the magic? We are looking for volunteers to help with market & décor set up/tear down, assisting the Marshmallow Station, and assisting the Letter to Santa Station. As a thank you, volunteers will receive 2 Banff Christmas Market tickets (valid for any day), 2 mulled wines, and one Banff Christmas Market toque - a total value of $70!

If this sounds like something you’d be into send us an email, banffchristmasmarket@gmail.com.

A safe space, for everyone.

The Banff Christmas Market values diversity, inclusivity and is a welcoming space for all.
